Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix

I know that I am in the minority when I say that I'm not such a big fan of hot cocoa.  I would rather have a hot cup of coffee of even chai.  But I know that there are many of you who love hot cocoa, and I know that my husband and children like it.  So, I post this recipe for YOU!  Stay tuned tomorrow for the recipe for homemade marshmallows...!

(RECIPE FOLLOWS AFTER THE JUMP!)

Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix
Source:  my friend Marie Brewer

2/3 cup Dutch process cocoa
2 cups brown sugar
3 1/3 cup powdered milk
1 tsp. salt

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well to combine.  (I used my handy dandy food processor for this.)

Add 4 tbl. to 8 oz. of hot water or milk and stir well.

  1. So, if I made a large batch of this, how long do you think I could store it for?

  2. Well, if you and your family drink it like mine, storage time won't be an issue. :)

But seriously, I would think it would last for awhile in a zip bag or tightly sealed container.
